Jonathan Stone from the US Military Police measures the collar of a young Iraqi man 28 May 2003 in Baghdad before he is given a new Iraqi police uniform to be distinguished from his predecessors under Saddam Hussein who were widely despised for their corruption and brutality. The move marks a change of policy by the US-led occupation administration which had planned to leave it to a future Iraqi government to decide on police garb. The new uniforms consist of white shirts and different colored trousers for police, traffic cops and the new security force being established to protect public buildings.
